Riot’s 2XKO Fighting Game Reveals Shockingly Small Roster – Here’s Why

The League of Legends fighting game spinoff just dropped a bombshell: only 10 champions at launch. In a fiery Discord Q&A, Riot Games defended their controversial decision, choosing a speedy release over bloated character select screens for their 2v2 tag-team brawler.

Alpha Lab 2 kicks off April 18-20 with regional tests in the US, Canada, and Brazil. But the real headline? That lean launch roster featuring:

  • Ahri, Yasuo, Jinx (fan favorites)
  • Braum, Darius (tanky powerhouses)
  • Three mystery fighters still under wraps

“Why so few characters?” Game director Shaun Rivera dropped the truth bomb: “We chose getting it into your hands sooner.” This isn’t Capcom-style roster bloat – Riot’s betting big on live-service updates to expand the lineup post-launch.

The Katarina conundrum:
– Previously shown assassin cut from current build
– Possible return by launch remains unclear

With cross-play confirmed for PS5, Xbox, and PC, 2XKO’s April alpha might be your first chance to experience Riot’s vision for accessible yet deep fighting game action. Just don’t expect Street Fighter-level character counts… yet.
