Riot Games, the studio behind popular games League of Legends and Valorant, has announced that a recent security breach may affect its short-term content release schedule. In a statement released on Friday, Riot Games confirmed that its development systems were compromised in a social engineering attack that took place earlier in the week.
According to the statement, there is currently no indication that player data or personal information was obtained during the attack. However, the incident has temporarily affected the studio’s ability to release content. As a result, Riot Games expects the incident to impact its upcoming patch schedule across multiple games.
The League of Legends development team also announced that the incident may affect the release of its version 13.2 update. The update, which was originally planned for January 25th, may now be delayed, with some aspects of the release, including a long-awaited art and sustainability update for a popular champion, potentially being moved to the arrival of patch 13.3 in February.
Riot Games has assured that no planned content will be canceled, but any content that cannot be hotfixed, such as art changes, may be delayed to a later date. The studio has pledged to share more information as it becomes available, and has not yet responded to requests for more information on the incident.
