Respawn Seeks Talent: Hiring Underway for Next Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Game

It appears that a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is in the works at Respawn Entertainment. The game developer has posted job listings for senior VFX artists, senior technical sound designers, and a principal game writer, indicating their plans for the next entry in the Star Wars Jedi series.

While the job descriptions do not reveal specific details about the game, they do mention that Respawn intends to upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 for the upcoming title. This upgrade suggests that players can expect improved visual fidelity and, hopefully, enhanced performance. However, it’s unlikely that the issue of large file sizes will be completely resolved for the third installment.

The confirmation of a trilogy for the Jedi series doesn’t come as a surprise, as Respawn’s Stig Asmussen previously mentioned in an interview with IGN that he envisioned the series as a trilogy. Asmussen expressed the team’s plans for the timeframe, stakes, tone, and challenges that the protagonist Cal would face in Survivor. He also hinted at the possibility of exploring ideas beyond the trilogy.

The Jedi series has drawn comparisons to the original Star Wars trilogy, with Fallen Order setting up a hopeful storyline akin to A New Hope and Survivor delving into darker story beats reminiscent of The Empire Strikes Back. Fans of the series can look forward to the continuation of Cal’s journey in the upcoming sequel.
