The Elder Scrolls Online has gotten a cinematic video for its next expansion Necrom, which will return players to Morrowind. The Chapter will bring a new class to The Elder Scrolls Online, as well as the return of a Daedric Prince last seen in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim DLC.
The Elder Scrolls Online’s next Chapter was introduced in a recent Xbox Developer Direct with a quick cinematic teaser, followed by confirmation that the Arcanist will be the third class added to the MMO since its inception. ZeniMax Online Studios revealed late last year that it intends to move away from the current yearly content cycle and back to full Chapters – Necrom is the first step in this route. Furthermore, ZeniMax intends to expand current portions of the game, and future DLC will most likely be motivated by this shift in mindset.
The small teaser seen at the Developer Direct has now been expanded into a full cinematic trailer titled The Elder Scrolls Online: Shadow Over Morrowind. A dozen seconds in, an elf Arcanist enters the stage, her hand bursting with green-coloured power. After catching a glimpse of what seems to be the Arcanist’s healing spell, the landscape changes to a parade of hooded individuals, whom the elf lady strives to avoid. When the Arcanist is trapped, even created tendrils are unable to hold adversaries away, but before a fatal blow is delivered, he slips into the realm of a well-known Daedric Prince.
The trailer finishes with a broad image of Hermaeus Mora, the Prince of knowledge and memory, a neutral being. The Demon of Knowledge was last seen in Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC when he implicitly assisted the player in destroying the rogue Dragonborn Miraak with his Black Books. Some Necrom advertising material has depicted locales that seem to be comparable to the twisted architecture of Apocrypha seen in Skyrim’s downloadable content, implying that players would journey inside Mora’s domain.
ZeniMax Online Studios has also provided an introduction to the Arcanist class, which has been a popular addition to the MMO. Apocryphal Gate allows players to instantly traverse portals, allowing for smart mobility and imaginative traversal, whilst Abyssal Impact sees players channelling their inner Micolash from Bloodborne, pushing forward with tentacular limbs. It remains to be seen how the community will react to the Arcanist’s arrival since many had anticipated that existing classes would be given new abilities and weapons to play with. With the current Firesong DLC’s bad reception, The Elder Scrolls Online needs an undeniable victory.
