PlayStation has highlighted some of the significant things that PS5 users can expect in the next year, including major video game and hardware launches. The year 2022 was a good one for video games, but it’s coming to an end, and many are looking forward to what 2023 has in store.
As of now, PlayStation has mostly been silent on its 2023 prospects. Major PlayStation game releases in 2022 included the highly praised God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, but Sony has yet to disclose its complete portfolio of titles for the new year. Nonetheless, PlayStation has teased fans with certain games to look forward to in early 2023, as well as one title that will arrive later.
On January 24, 2023, Square Enix’s Forspoken will be released on PlayStation. Forspoken, an open-world action RPG, is a PlayStation 5 platform exclusive, and it is expected to be one of the year’s first significant PS5 releases. Then, on February 10, PS5 owners will be able to play Hogwarts Legacy, the much-anticipated open-world Harry Potter game. A PlayStation 4 version of Hogwarts Legacy is also in the works, but those who have yet to switch to Sony’s latest platform will have to wait until April 4 to enjoy it.
2023 kicks off in a big way for PlayStation. Highlights to help set your calendar:
?Jan 24 – Forspoken
??Jan 26 – DualSense Edge controller

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the much-anticipated follow-up to Insomniac’s PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man game, will be released later in the year. Peter Parker and Miles Morales will link up in Spider-Man 2, and the classic Spider-Man anti-hero Venom will play a key part. More information about Spider-Man 2 has yet to be released, but with the game set to debut in the autumn of 2023, more information should be available sooner rather than later.
The new video games coming to the PS5 in 2023 are probably what most PS5 players are anticipating, while some gamers could be more interested in the new hardware. The new DualSense Edge controller, which is essentially PlayStation’s response to the Xbox Elite controller, will be available on January 26. The DualSense Edge will cost a pricey $199.99 at launch, but it comes with a slew of upgrades that help justify the price.
Finally, the PlayStation VR2 headset will be available on February 22. The PlayStation VR2’s launch selection of titles is expanding by the day, and it will be fascinating to see whether they live up to the expectations. In 2023, PlayStation players will find out.
