While other apps have offered similar image expansion features, Adobe is being cautious in the world of AI image generation. Its Firefly family of tools, including Generative Expand and Fill, is trained on Adobe Stock images, openly-licensed content, or public domain content to avoid copyright infringement issues.
Google has shown support for Adobe’s ethical approach to AI, planning to integrate Firefly image generation into its Bard chatbot. However, the rollout has not happened yet, and further updates are awaited.
