TeaserPlay, a community initiative that develops fan-made concept movies of video games, has published a video featuring a John Wick idea produced using Unreal Engine 5. TeaserPlay created Keanu Reeves’ look from John Wick, relevant movie locations, and combat scenarios with knuckles and weapons using the latest technology given by the latest Unreal Engine.
Screenwriter Derek Kolstad invented the neo-noir action franchise, John Wick. In the films, Keanu Reeves plays the primary protagonist, a former hitman named John Wick. So far, the brand has only seen one game, a tactical turn-based RPG produced by Bithell Games. There hasn’t been another John Wick game since the release of John Wick Hex, however, one may be in the works.
It’s odd that there hasn’t been an action-oriented John Wick game yet, and TeaserPlay shares that attitude. Furthermore, the big-budget John Wick game that Lionsgate has hinted at has inspired TeaserPlay to turn their vision into a video.
The minute-and-a-half concept trailer shows John Wick in a variety of locations, including driving his 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS across deserts, battling bad henchmen with his fists, and engaging in Max Payne-style shootouts. TeaserPlay has also developed a concept video for the Max Payne remake using Unreal Engine 5. One of the trailer’s most amazing recreations is the moment in which John Wick is riding a horse through the streets of New York City at night, which was inspired by the newest John Wick film.
According to TeaserPlay, the most powerful technologies provided by Unreal Engine 5 are utilised in the clip to produce realistic-looking characters and surroundings. These include ray tracing lighting, screen-space reflections, and Lumen technology, which lights the scene with realistic direct and indirect light. The world’s detail is built using Unreal Engine’s Nanite technology, a virtualized geometry system that allows for incredible pixel scale detail and high item counts in large regions.
In the concept video, Keanu Reeves was recreated using Unreal Engine 5’s MetaHuman, a technology that facilitates the construction of lifelike synthetic people in a reasonable period. While the production value is high for a fan film, it is not intended to be a full-fledged game trailer. Some elements of the clip have received more attention than others, but overall, it demonstrates that gamers deserve a true John Wick action-adventure game. However, before it is ready for the spotlight, if it ever occurs, there is a big-budget Max Payne remake in the works.
