Nintendo Year in Review 2025 Highlights Top Played Games and Switch Longevity

Nintendo has officially launched the Year in Review 2025 website, allowing Nintendo Account holders to view their annual gaming activity. This digital summary tracks total playtime, the number of titles played, and the specific months during which a user was most active on the Nintendo Switch system.

The 2025 data shows that the Nintendo Switch continues to see heavy usage despite the hardware being on the market since 2017. One of the most significant contributors to playtime this year was Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. This title, which was in development for several years, became a primary driver for software sales and engagement during the second half of 2025. Other prominent titles featured in user reports include Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.

The report categorizes games into genres to show players where they spent the most time, such as Action, RPG, or Simulation. It also highlights evergreen titles that remain consistently popular in the Nintendo ecosystem. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons continue to appear frequently in the “Most Played” sections of user summaries. For many players, the 2024 release The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom also showed sustained engagement throughout the early months of 2025.

Beyond individual statistics, the 2025 review serves as a record of the final full year of the Switch as Nintendo’s primary console before the anticipated transition to new hardware. The year was marked by a strategy of releasing high quality remasters and long awaited sequels to maintain the active user base. Nintendo also utilized the Year in Review to promote the Nintendo Switch Online service, showing users how much time they spent playing classic titles from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy libraries.

To access the Year in Review 2025, users must log in to their Nintendo Account on the official Nintendo website. The summary is available for a limited time, typically through the end of January 2026. There is no additional cost to view these statistics, and the service is available globally in all regions where the Nintendo eShop operates. Nintendo provides a shareable infographic at the end of the report so users can post their top three most played games on social media platforms.
