Linking your account to Twitter or Facebook not only makes it quicker to sign in, but also makes it easier to add friends, since Nintendo may find new people to join from either account. However, since Nintendo upgraded its Switch Online mobile app to make adding friends easier, you no longer need Twitter or Facebook to expedite the process.
