Movies Anywhere to Discontinue Screen Pass Content-Sharing Feature

Movies Anywhere stated on Wednesday that it will be discontinuing Screen Pass, the movie-sharing programme that debuted during COVID-19 lockdowns. The Disney-owned platform did not give an explanation for the shutdown.

“As the experience continues to evolve, we want to notify you that effective May 1 users will no longer be able to use the Screen Pass feature to send a Screen Pass,” the announcement reads. “For Screen Passes sent prior to May 1, recipients will still be able to accept and finish watching the movie before their passes expire. The Screen Pass function will be decommissioned on June 1.”

Screen Pass allows customers to gift three movie passes each month to friends and family without exposing their login information. If you’ve redeemed a code with the service within the last six months, you may send a link through text, email, or instant messaging that allows the receiver seven days to accept and 14 days to begin viewing; once the movie begins, they have 72 hours to finish it.

Movies Anywhere, which debuted in 2014, allows users to sync digital film and television purchases across platforms such as the Apple TV app, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu, and Microsoft. Happily, the platform’s basic feature stays unchanged, however sharing your purchases with pals will eventually need you being in the same location.
