Microsoft Teams aims to enhance the usage of its less popular feature

Microsoft Teams has unveiled more details about its green screen technology, which aims to enhance the virtual backgrounds and blur effects available to its users.

The video conferencing service announced in March 2023 that it would be bringing the green screen feature to its platform, allowing users to improve the detail and accuracy of virtual backgrounds without additional software or hardware. In a recent blog post, Jan Steberl, a company expert, outlined how the new tool will work, and how it can take Microsoft Teams calls to the next level.

The green screen feature, which is now in public preview, enhances the sharpness and definition of virtual background effects and allows users to show a prop or other object in their hands. However, users must ensure that they have a solid colour screen or background wall behind them to use the feature. They will also need to carefully select the backdrop colour to ensure the background or blur effect is applied correctly and looks high-quality. Green screen on Microsoft Teams is currently only supported on Windows and macOS devices with Intel and AMD chips.
