Mercedes ‘excited’ to see results of ‘plotting and scheming’ in F1

Mercedes’ technical director, James Allison, is back in his role and has expressed his enthusiasm for the future as he begins to plan and strategize for the team’s upcoming endeavors.

Earlier in the season, Allison swapped roles with Mike Elliott to lead the technical operation of Mercedes’ Formula 1 side. Now, he is focused on determining the team’s course for the current season and beyond.

During the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, Lewis Hamilton mentioned that Mercedes has identified their “North Star” in terms of car development and has a clear strategy to pursue it. Notably, the team has already implemented significant changes to the W14 this year.

Allison, in high spirits, engaged with the media in Montreal as Mercedes’ representative, sharing his excitement about the possibilities that lie ahead for the team.

“I’m certainly enjoying it,” Allison expressed during an interview with F1 TV when asked about his return to the technical director role.

“I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’m putting plans in place. I’m just collaborating with my colleagues, plotting and scheming our approach for the remaining tracks this year, as well as what we aim to achieve next year.

“We recently had the main press conference, and I tried to convey the sheer thrill of it all. When you start forming a clear vision internally within the team, alongside your fellow engineers, of how the journey will unfold, it’s incredibly exciting.

“It’s like waiting for Christmas. You eagerly anticipate its arrival, and the feeling is just electric.”

Allison’s return to his technical director position marks a new chapter for Mercedes as they seek to maintain their competitive edge in the challenging world of Formula 1. With his passion and strategic mindset, Allison’s presence will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping the team’s future endeavors. Fans and enthusiasts alike eagerly await what Mercedes has in store as they continue their pursuit of success in the world of motorsport.
