Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Day-One Patch Brings Visual Upgrades and Accessibility Settings

Insomniac Games Releases Patch 1.001.002 for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on Its Launch Day

October 20, a day eagerly awaited by many gamers, has arrived, marking the simultaneous release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. For players swinging into the web-slinging adventure of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a day-one patch, version 1.001.002, is now available, promising a range of substantial improvements from Insomniac Games.

Players who pre-loaded the digital version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can rest assured, as the 1.001.002 update was already included in the pre-load. However, for those with the physical edition of the game, the patch is available for download and includes several noteworthy upgrades. Earlier this week, Insomniac urged players with the disc-based version to download the patch “before experiencing the opening mission of the game for the first time.”

This advice now makes sense as the patch notes have been unveiled, highlighting specific improvements to the “visual fidelity of the opening gameplay sequence.” Beyond the visual enhancements, the patch addresses an issue where player progression could become blocked during the Suit Tutorial. Additionally, the update brings refined performance, increased stability, and various other fixes.

The patch introduces important accessibility settings, including the ability to incorporate a high-contrast color for the effect displayed when executing a Perfect Dodge, enhancing visibility. Players can now adjust controller vibration between “Experiential, Functional, or None,” and the same options apply to the controller speaker mode.

It’s important to note that players who pre-loaded the digital version of the game do not need to take any action. However, for those who have received a physical copy, it is advisable to download the patch before embarking on your superhero adventure to ensure the best possible gaming experience.
