Major Paranormal Activity vibes in Latest Found Footage Horror Game

Fans of horror games should keep a look out for the upcoming found-footage horror game Paranormal Tales, which has strong echoes of Paranormal Activity. Every year, a slew of new horror games reach the independent market, each attempting to terrify its audience in novel ways. Puppet Combo’s Stay Out of the Home and Chilla’s Art The Convenience Shop are just a couple of the recent horror games on the market. Although several have attempted to replicate VHS tapes with a more retro-type visual design, one future game seems to be attempting to look more like a ghost video from the internet.

Since its premiere, the film has had a strong effect on a slew of horror films, with many opting for a more realistic approach in which someone puts up a camera to catch the supernatural rather than attempting to seem more theatrical with dynamic camera angles. Initially, it was a low-cost but successful means of instilling fear and suspense in the audience, using subtlety to keep them on their toes. It’s safe to argue that this impact has also permeated numerous video games, which attempt to replicate the genuine sensation of a regular person encountering the otherworldly.

As seen by its recent teaser, one forthcoming horror game is attempting to mimic that feeling. The game, dubbed Paranormal Tales, produced a Pre-Alpha gameplay clip that recreated a genuine found-footage experience depicting the idea of the typical YouTube ghost encounter video. In the teaser, someone is filming a hallway in their home, hears a pounding in the distance, and calls out to whomever it may be before venturing out to check. They search the home, finding nothing and hearing additional sounds elsewhere before leaving.

This eventually leads to an experience in which a supernatural creature pursues the player, pursuing them up to their bedroom and attacking them in their closet in a last jump fright. Although it’s unclear if this will be the sole form of gameplay in Paranormal Tales, the creator Horror Cam Committee did post a video some months ago to initially promote the experience, which includes scenes in the forest, haunted houses, and more.

Although the Paranormal Activity series seems to be coming to an end, there will always be a place in the game industry for such eerie experiences, as well as players ready to terrify themselves. Although no specific release date for Paranormal Tales has been determined, it is expected that additional trailers will be released to showcase the game.
