The highly anticipated game, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, launched on Friday, but initial reviews have been largely negative, citing numerous bugs and lackluster gameplay. GamesRadar, in particular, described the game as “one to avoid altogether” and not living up to expectations.
TRG, a prominent gaming publication, encountered difficulties in obtaining a review copy of the game and was left without access to it.
In response to the criticism surrounding the launch, developer Daedalic Entertainment issued an apology via Twitter. They expressed deep regret that the game did not meet their own expectations or those of the dedicated community.

Daedalic Entertainment has committed to addressing the issues and improving the game based on player feedback. They acknowledged the importance of player enjoyment and satisfaction in the success of a game, appreciating the constructive criticism and suggestions provided by the community.
The development team has been actively working to address the bugs and technical issues reported by players. They assured the community that patches would be released to enhance the game’s experience and fulfill its potential.
The apology statement, however, contained an error in the very first line, referring to the game as “The Lord of Ring: Gollum.”
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is currently available for purchase on Steam at a price of £42.99. Optional add-ons include an emote pack for £1.99, providing Gollum with six new emotes, including his famous catchphrase, “my precious.” Additionally, the Sindarin VO pack, priced at £1.99, enables Elven characters in the game to speak in the Elvish tongue Sindarin during voiceovers.
