Larian Studios Already Working on Next Game Following Baldur’s Gate 3

Swen Vincke, the director of Baldur’s Gate 3, has revealed that Larian Studios is already busy with its next game project. Despite just completing the development and release of Baldur’s Gate 3, which took six years, the studio is eager to move on to its next creative venture.

Vincke explained the typical feeling experienced by game developers after completing a project, likening it to reaching a cliff’s edge. He stated that although there is a need for a break, the team is already thinking about and moving toward the next project.

While the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has shipped, Vincke is personally transitioning to the next game. He emphasized that his creative involvement in Baldur’s Gate 3 is complete, and he is ready to close that chapter.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has received critical acclaim and is currently the highest-rated game of the year on Metacritic. It quickly gained popularity on Steam, surpassing expectations for its launch. Vincke admitted that the team had initial concerns about lower Metacritic scores or potential game-breaking issues, but these worries did not materialize, and the game’s success exceeded their expectations.
