Intel Fixes Clock Speed Misreporting Bug in Arc Graphics Cards Driver

Intel has released a new beta version of its Arc graphics cards driver, addressing a clock speed misreporting bug that had surfaced in the previous driver release. The previous driver had seemingly provided a 150MHz bump in clock speed for the budget Arc A380 graphics cards, leading some gamers to believe they had received an unexpected upgrade. However, the misreported clock speed was an error, and the graphics cards were running at the same frequency as before.

The new beta driver (v31.0.101.4669) includes a fix for the clock speed misreporting issue, ensuring that the graphics cards will display the correct clock speed in the future. This beta driver release also addresses a bug related to the game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, preventing crashes when reaching the main menu upon first loading.

The previous full driver release had brought significant frame rate boosts for certain games, such as Overwatch 2 and GTA V. While the clock speed issue affected the reported default frequency value, it did not impact the performance improvements delivered by the previous driver.

Intel’s commitment to addressing and rectifying the clock speed misreporting issue reflects the company’s dedication to maintaining the accuracy of its graphics cards’ specifications and performance metrics. The fix will likely be incorporated into the next full driver release for Intel’s Arc graphics cards.
