After years of resistance, Instagram is finally allowing users to add more than one link to their profile page. The change was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday through his broadcast channel. “You can now add up to five links in your Instagram bio,” he said. “Probably one of the most requested features we’ve had.”
Previously, Instagram only allowed users to add a single link to their profile, which led many to use third-party services such as Linktree to share multiple links with their followers. Now, with the new feature, users will be able to share up to five links directly on their Instagram profile.
To add multiple links to their profile, users can simply tap the “Edit profile” button that appears above their photo grid and highlights. Instagram will even prompt users to add multiple links. The interface Meta designed for displaying the links isn’t the most elegant thing the company has ever released, but it’s functional. If a user puts more than one link on their profile, Instagram will truncate the first one and state how many more follow. Tapping the first link that appears brings up a selection screen that allows users to see all the links at once.
This change has been long-awaited by Instagram users, especially those who use the platform for business or marketing purposes. The ability to share multiple links on their profile will make it easier for them to direct their followers to their website, blog, or other social media accounts.
The move also highlights Meta’s continued efforts to improve its social media platforms and respond to user feedback. With this new feature, Instagram is likely to see increased engagement and usage from its users.
