IKEA introduces online design-a-room service for customers

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA is set to launch a new service that aims to assist customers with decorating and furnishing their rooms. The move is part of the company’s efforts to expand its service offerings, transitioning from customer self-service apps to one-on-one assistance provided by “IKEA designers”. The online service will be completely digital and will begin with a questionnaire on the IKEA USA site, followed by three video calls. Customers will receive a mood board and initial plans for the space, and will then have an opportunity to approve the ideas and products before receiving 3D renderings, a floor plan, and a list of products and material options.
