Hulu has raised its subscription prices

Hulu’s subscription prices have been officially raised. The Disney-owned streaming service, as well as ESPN+ and Disney+, all saw price increases announced in August. Hulu’s ad-supported plan is being raised from $6.99 to $7.99 per month. Its ad-free plan is now $14.99 per month rather than $12.99 per month.

Subscribers with the Disney bundle are safe for the time being because Hulu is not raising the price. The bundled plan with ESPN+, Disney+, and Hulu with ads, on the other hand, will see a price increase later this year. The monthly fee for the bundle has been raised from $13.99 to $14.99. Thankfully, the Disney bundle, which includes ad-free Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+, will remain at $19.99 per month.

Hulu’s Live TV bundles will remain unchanged today, but a price increase is expected soon. The basic bundle, which includes Hulu Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+, costs $69.99 per month and includes ads as well as Disney+ and ESPN+. Hulu Live TV, ESPN+ with ads, and Disney+ with no ads will continue to cost $74.99 per month.

Price increases are a common strategy for streaming services. Netflix raised the prices of its subscription plans in the United States in January. Hulu raised its subscription prices around the same time last year.

The increases can be overwhelming for consumers, which is why churn and return are so common. Antenna discovered less than 30 million cancellations in Q1 2022, 12% more than in any previous quarter.
