Once you do this, click on the lock icon again to disable changes and then, for safe measure, reboot the Mac or MacBook system, and now, the Firewall on your device will be active and in full effect. From that point on, if the system detects any suspicious attempts from the network, or from an application you have downloaded and installed on the system, it will flag it and alert you simultaneously, so that you can take the appropriate actions.
