With the world now transitioning to a work-from-home regime, the need for high-quality, secure video conferencing applications has skyrocketed and while apps like Skype and Zoom are the de facto market leaders at the moment, Google has not stepped out of this competition. Google Meet is a capable video conferencing app from Google, and over the last few months, has grown in prominence, amongst educational institutions as well as professional companies. The feature set is pretty similar to the market standard, but you also get that added Google branding that evokes a different level of trust. We have been using Google Meet for a few weeks and we have not found any major problems with our experience.
Google Meet was initially limited to those who have a G-Site account, but it looks like the app can now be used by anyone with a Gmail account. If you are someone who is interested in using Google Meet, then this tutorial will teach you how you can quickly set up a Google Meet conference.
Without further ado, let us get started –
Step 1. Open up your web browser and head to the Google Meet website. Alternatively, you can click on this link to head to the Google Meet web app.
Step 2. Make sure you have logged into the correct Google account that you want to use for creating the Google Meet conference.
Step 3. Now, on the Google Meet home page, click on the ‘New Meeting’ button.
You now have two options –
Create a Meeting for later – If you choose this option, you have the option to set a name for the meeting and select the date and time for the meeting. Once you enter the relevant details of the meeting, you can share the invite link with your colleagues, family, or friends and once they click on the link, they will be allowed to join the meeting.
Start an Instant meeting – When you choose this option, you are immediately taken into the meeting screen and from there you can start inviting people to join the conference.
The choice is in your hands. No matter what you pick, you will be able to get started with your Google Meet conference.
