The latest segment of technology where Google has made a mark is a wearable tech. A segment that started with simple fitness trackers, has now evolved into full-fledged smartwatches, which are now at a point where they can actually automate most smartphone functions.
Like other smart devices, the first requirement for these smart watch devices is an operating system. In the case of Android-powered smartwatches, this is nothing but WearOS. Based heavily on their Android smartphone platform, WearOS combines simplicity and attention to detail in a beautiful cohesive package that allows you to enjoy the complexity of a watch with the fluidity of Android.
Like most native Android features, Google has also included the Google Assistant as a built-in feature, which works seamlessly with the ecosystem and allows you to get past your tasks with ease. The Assistant feature can be activated by long-pressing the crown on your Wear OS smartwatch.
However, if you do not find the need to use the Google Assistant feature on your Wear OS smartwatch, there is a way to disable it.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to disable the Google Assistant on your Wear OS.
Step 1. Open the Settings on your Wear OS smartwatch.
Step 2. Scroll through the menu and tap on the ‘Apps and Notifications‘ option.
Step 3. Now, tap on the ‘App Permissions‘ option.
Step 4. Tap on the ‘System Apps‘ option.
Step 5. Now, scroll through the list and tap on the ‘Google‘ app.
Step 6. Finally, toggle ‘Off‘ the ‘Microphone’ permission.
This will turn off the microphone on your Wear OS smartwatch and as a result, the Google Assistant will cease to work on the device.
