You can easily start new conversations or conferences with people in your Google contact list. But what do you do if you want to start a conversation with a person who is currently not in your contacts?

Case 1 – Android, iOS, and iPad devices

Step 1. Open the Google Meet (Hangouts) on your Android, iOS or iPad device.

Step 2. On the bottom right, click on the ‘+’ icon.

Step 3. From the pop-up menu, tap on the ‘New conversation’ option.

Step 4. Now in the search bar, enter the email id of the person you want to have the conversation with.

Step 5. Start a conversation and send the contact a message.

Case. 2 – Desktop or Laptop

Step 1. Open the web browser on your desktop/laptop.

 

Step 2. In the URL bar, type in hangouts.google.com

Step 3. In the Google Meet (Hangouts) dashboard, click on the ‘Message’ button.

Step 4. Enter the email id of the person you want to talk to.

Step 5. Tap on the email id to start a conversation.  Send a simple message. Sometimes, you may be prompted to send an invite. In this case, just click on the send invite button.
