Kojima Productions is working on a video game featuring Elle Fanning. The cooperation was unveiled as part of an extensive teaser campaign that started at the Tokyo Game Show in September. It published a picture of a face covered in darkness with the slogan “Who Am I?” at the time. On Friday, fans received an answer to that question when they discovered a QR code with a link to the Kojima Productions website at PAX Aus. The website offers an updated version of the picture, which includes a portrait of Fanning.
Following that, Kojima tweeted that there will be further teases and an eventual unveiling. In terms of what they indicate, Polygon believes Friday’s teaser is most likely related to a Death Stranding sequel. In an interview in May, actor Norman Reedus said that he has “just begun” work on a second game in the series. Despite the fact that Kojima Productions has yet to publicly announce the title, a producer at the studio retweeted Kojima’s tweet with the hashtag #DeathStranding. That tweet was later removed.
However, it’s worth mentioning that Kojima is collaborating with Microsoft on at least one “totally new game.” The auteur’s “Where Am I?” picture might perhaps be a reference to “Overdose,” a horror game he’s purportedly working on with Death Stranding and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress Margaret Qualley. In any case, Kojima is expected to reveal additional details about his next project at The Game Awards on December 9th, since he has a lengthy relationship with presenter Geoff Keighley.
