HBO’s The Last of Us series is expected to begin in January

Those of us who have been waiting for HBO’s version of The Last of Us to premiere won’t have to wait much longer. According to the show’s HBO Max website, it will premiere on January 15th. That’s 75 days away for those keeping track.

With The Last of Us due out in early 2023 and the great Succession not coming until the spring, the January release date seems logical. Even if the rumoured release date appears on an official HBO site, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt until a more formal announcement is made.

In any event, The Last of Us will include ten episodes in its first season. It’s a remake of Naughty Dog’s classic game of the same name, which the company just updated for the PlayStation 5.

Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) plays Joel, and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) plays Ellie, with Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, and Nick Offerman also appearing. Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, who played the game’s primary protagonists, will also appear. The first trailer was published by HBO in September, and from what we’ve seen so far, the programme is sticking pretty true to the original game’s plot and aesthetics.
