Sebastian Vettel, the four-time Formula 1 World Champion, retired from the sport at the end of the 2022 season after a two-year stint with Aston Martin. Despite their intense on-track rivalry, Vettel and Lewis Hamilton, who both made their F1 debuts in the same season, developed a strong friendship over the years. Both drivers share an interest in off-track social matters.
Vettel’s retirement has left Hamilton as one of the most experienced and senior figures in Formula 1, second only to Fernando Alonso. During Vettel’s departure from the sport, Hamilton had praised him, and their bond remained intact even after retirement.
Hamilton revealed that he and Vettel still exchange messages occasionally, including during the recent Dutch Grand Prix. However, Hamilton humorously admitted that he had yet to respond to Vettel’s latest message. When asked why, Hamilton explained that he had disconnected from his phone during a recent break and was focused on spending time with family. He expressed his intention to catch up with Vettel soon.
