According to a report by 9to5Google, the first-generation Chromecast will no longer receive any updates or support from Google. In an announcement on Chromecast’s informational hub, Google stated, “Support for Chromecast (1st gen) has ended, which means these devices no longer receive software or security updates, and Google does not provide technical support for them. From Google’s perspective, discontinuing support for the 10-year-old original Chromecast has been a long time coming.
