Maintenance analysis procedure

Meaning – The term maintenance analysis procedure, refers to a hardware maintenance document that gives an IBM service representative a step-by-step procedure for tracing a symptom to the cause of a failure.

IBM designs and manufactures a lot of different hardware components, each of whom, has a set procedure of maintenance. The maintenance analysis procedure allows the certified IBM technician to correctly diagnose any problems that may be present in the component.

Usually, the step that precedes or coincides with this is maintenance task analysis, which is the identification of the steps, spares, and materials, tools, support equipment, personnel skill levels, and facility issues that must be considered for a given repair task.

Example of usage“Performing an MTA begins with identifying each step of the repair process. The steps are analyzed and a description is written as to how they would be physically performed. After the description, resources to perform that task are identified.”
