In an exciting development for the world of Formula 1, global automotive giants Ford have expressed their enthusiasm for their upcoming partnership with Red Bull, set to commence in 2026. As Formula 1’s technical regulations reset from the 2026 season, Ford will join forces with Red Bull Powertrains, taking over from Honda as the team’s engine supplier.
Honda, having secured their presence on the entry sheet for 2026 without a partner entry, recently finalized an agreement to become factory suppliers to Aston Martin. This transition opened the door for Ford to forge a new alliance with Red Bull.
The partnership between Ford and Red Bull was initially announced in February, coinciding with the launch of the RB19 in New York City. As part of this collaboration, Ford staff members will be based at the Red Bull Powertrains facility in Milton Keynes, which began construction in 2021.
While discussions between the two parties are not a daily occurrence during the busy race season, Ford is delighted with the progress made thus far. As they eagerly await the official commencement of their partnership in 2026, Ford assures that all resources are dedicated to this endeavor.
Mark Rushbrook, Ford’s global director of motorsport, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, emphasizing the positive developments arising from their discussions and visits to the Red Bull Powertrains base.
“The partnership with Red Bull for powertrains has been fantastic,” stated Rushbrook in an interview with Speedcafe. “We had some initial ideas regarding tech transfer and the opportunity to contribute to the program, which was already promising. But with each discussion and visit, we identify more and more areas of opportunity. We are genuinely pleased with the progress, and the partnership is advancing very well.”
The upcoming partnership between Ford and Red Bull signifies a significant step forward for both entities in the world of motorsport. With Ford’s renowned expertise and Red Bull’s ambitious drive for success, fans can anticipate exciting developments and a heightened level of competitiveness on the Formula 1 grid starting from 2026.
