A review of the first mini PC using AMD’s new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU has emerged, about two months before its expected release. YouTube creator ETA Prime tested a prototype of the Soyo S9 AI mini PC.
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Strix Point CPU uses AMD’s new Zen 5 architecture, with 12 cores total – four Zen 5 cores and eight denser Zen 5c cores. It has 16 Compute Units, up from 12 in previous versions.
The Soyo S9 AI mini PC features:
- Multiple USB-A and USB-C ports
- Two HDMI ports
- Ethernet port
- Three M.2 NVMe PCIe 4 SSD slots
- LPDDR5X RAM (16GB, 32GB, or 64GB options)
The RAM is soldered, so upgrades aren’t possible.
Despite lacking a discrete GPU, the mini PC showed impressive gaming performance. The graphics use RDNA 3.5, an upgrade from RDNA3. ETA Prime tested several AAA games at 1080p resolution with good frame rates, though not at maximum settings.
The Soyo S9 AI mini PC is expected to launch by mid-October. Pricing is still being decided.
