Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur Calls for Focus Ahead of Monza Homecoming

Vasseur Urges Ferrari to Remain Committed Amid High Expectations at Italian Grand Prix

As Ferrari prepares to embark on its highly anticipated homecoming at Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, Team Principal Fred Vasseur has emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and dedication amidst the emotional atmosphere. Monza holds a special place in the hearts of Ferrari fans, making it a significant event on the racing calendar. However, the 2023 season has posed challenges for the team, necessitating a composed approach.

Ferrari has experienced a three-year drought in securing victory at its home circuit, with the dominance of Max Verstappen and Red Bull casting a shadow over the team’s aspirations. Despite the formidable competition, Ferrari fans have high hopes for their team’s performance.

Vasseur recognizes the significance of racing in front of the passionate “tifosi” and underscores the team’s commitment to delivering a race worthy of their support. He stated, “Taking to the track in front of our ‘tifosi’ is an incentive to put our heart and soul into our work… we plan to put on a great show and deliver a race to be proud of.”

In his first Italian Grand Prix since joining Scuderia Ferrari, Vasseur is particularly excited about the occasion. However, he emphasizes the need for the team to channel its emotions effectively and maintain a clear focus on execution throughout the weekend.

“To achieve our goals however, we will have to put emotion to one side and focus on executing the weekend to the best of our ability,” Vasseur remarked. The team’s performance, from the initial laps of free practice to the final moments of the race, will be pivotal in determining their success.

Discussing the team’s performance potential, Vasseur noted that the SF-23 has shown competitiveness on specific types of tracks, as seen in Belgium. He affirmed the team’s commitment to providing their talented drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, with a competitive car. Acknowledging the closely contested nature of the field behind the Red Bulls, Vasseur highlighted the significance of attention to detail and precision in maximizing performance.

“We owe it to them to give them the means to express their talent,” Vasseur stated, referring to Leclerc and Sainz as “two of the best drivers in the world.” With small margins potentially making a significant difference, the team’s pursuit of excellence and determination to perform at their best remains unwavering.

As Ferrari navigates the unique challenges and opportunities presented by Monza’s ambiance, motorsport enthusiasts await the team’s performance on the iconic track, eager to witness a race that combines emotion with technical prowess.
