Dragonflight Teases Evokers Having a Third Specialty in World of Warcraft

Evokers in World of Warcraft may receive their third speciality after all, as players are discovering an incomplete quest on the Public Test Realm that strongly suggests an improvement for the new class launched in Dragonflight. Many months have passed since Evokers made their debut with the release of Dragonflight, and public opinion on the newcomers has started to crystallise in the World of Warcraft community. When it comes to gameplay, the verdict has been leaning in the correct way, with Preservation Evokers in particular shining well in both Vault of the Incarnates and Dragonflight Season 1.

Nevertheless, not everything has been great, as many World of Warcraft players believe the customization possibilities for Evokers when it comes to gear are, to put it mildly, unsatisfactory. Blizzard sought to make sure that Evokers had lots of choices during character creation to enable players to adequately customise their Dracthyr, but the system hasn’t exactly made the mark on fans that the creators may have hoped for.

Although there seem to be no plans to address the player’s desire to reveal more of their transmog outside of their visage form, the current rumour on the Public Test Realm concerns the likelihood that Dracthyr Evokers may get a third speciality in the future patch. The idea was brought up on the official World of Warcraft subreddit by the delightfully titled IonHazzikostasIsGod, who provided a snapshot of an incomplete quest that reportedly would make Dracthyr “remember” a new specialty.

Some gamers have even gone so far as to speculate that Blizzard changed its mind about Dracthyr Warriors not obtaining other World of Warcraft classes, particularly since Dracthyr Warriors were prominently featured in the Dragonflight Legacies animated films. More measured voices, on the other hand, speculated on how this third specialism might fit into the Evoker’s arsenal. Although most of Patch 10.0.7 focused with discovering the history of the Black Dragonflight, the most prevalent recommendations were a completely ranged or tanking position with abilities centred around the Black Dragonflight.

With Embers of Neltharion also focusing on Deathwing’s legacy in World of Warcraft’s newest zone in Patch 10.1, it would be the ideal opportunity for Blizzard to build on the precedent set when Feral Druid split off into its Guardian specialisation and give Evokers a more complete class fantasy, as befits their archetype of a Dragon Knight channelling the power of the five Dragonflights. Whilst this isn’t a definitive assurance that the third Evoker specialty will ever make it to live servers, it is the most definite indication that Blizzard isn’t done with the Dracthyr or their Evokers just yet.
