Diablo 4’s Sorcerer class has received a significant nerf in the latest patch, version 1.10a. The ability “Devouring Blaze,” which was essential for powerful late-game and endgame builds, has been nerfed. The bonus critical strike damage against burning and immobilized enemies has been reduced from 10/20/30% to 7/14/21%, and the bonus critical strike damage to immobilized targets has been reduced from 25/50/75% to 10/20/30%.
This nerf has made the Sorcerer, which was already known for its impressive damage output but fragility, even more vulnerable. Additionally, Blizzard’s nerf to defensive Affixes compounds the issue. Since Sorcerers lack access to protective abilities and self-healing, they heavily relied on defensive items for survivability. However, Blizzard’s decision to shift power from defensive Affixes to offensive ones has affected Sorcerers disproportionately.
The Sorcerer class has often been the target of Blizzard’s nerfs, with skills being toned down in almost every patch. While there have been some minor buffs along the way, they haven’t been enough to balance out the overall impact of the nerfs. As a result, Sorcerer players may find themselves at a disadvantage compared to other classes, at least for the time being.
