Bitwarden Unveils New Business Secrets Manager, Elevating Data Security for Enterprises

Bitwarden, a popular password manager, has officially launched its Secrets Manager in general availability. Designed for developers and IT teams, this manager enables the secure storage and sharing of credentials beyond passwords, such as API keys and authentication certificates, at scale. It employs a zero-knowledge architecture and end-to-end encryption to ensure data security.

Many businesses face the challenge of securely sharing secrets across different environments, platforms, and teams. Developers play a crucial role in maintaining the security of sensitive company data. Bitwarden’s research shows that nearly a quarter of developers have experienced a data breach, with almost a fifth spending over five hours per week managing developer secrets.

Bitwarden’s Secrets Manager aims to prevent data breaches by securely containing secrets in one place, reducing security gaps. Michael Crandell, CEO of Bitwarden, believes that many recent data breaches are the result of poor management of sensitive credentials. The manager includes integrations, software development kits (SDKs), directory integrations, and compatibility with single sign-on (SSO) and System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM).

While the free plan of the Bitwarden Secrets Manager offers unlimited storage of secrets, unlimited users and projects are available to paying subscribers only.
