Bandai Namco has hosted a Q&A session in which it explains why it opted to remaster Tales of Symphonia and speculates on the likelihood of future remasters. When it was published in 2004, the original Tales of Symphonia was regarded as one of the finest games in the series and one of the best games on the Nintendo Gamecube. This release also helped expand the series’ appeal to a new Western public, resulting in a PS3 version in 2014 and a Steam release in 2016.
The land of Sylvarant, where Lloyd, Colette, and other friends and allies will embark on a mission to preserve their home, will be re-experienced or introduced to players in Tales of Symphonia Remastered, which is set to release in roughly a month. The game was initially unveiled at a Nintendo Direct in 2022, but it will now be available on several platforms starting in February. This remaster will be based on the PS3/PC version, with better visuals, higher frame rates for specific Artes, and other current-generation additions. Following Tales of Vesperia’s remaster, the reason for Symphonia’s remaster is that Symphonia was the first game in the series to be distributed globally. This prompted many fans, both in Japan and abroad, to express their desire to play the games on current-generation hardware, resulting in this remaster.
When questioned about further Tales of remasters or remakes, Bandai Namco agreed that there were a lot of enthusiastic fans that wanted to enjoy the older games on modern platforms. It also states that no further material will be added to this re-release, although nothing has been deleted, noting that the legacy costumes and both opening themes from the PS3/PC edition remain included.
