Gamers can finally rejoice, as Baldur’s Gate 3’s patch 5 is now live. Not only have the developers ironed out the wrinkles, but they seem to have added in a better epilogue for the game, an epilogue that is so good, that gamers who had early access to had, have describe it to have one of the most beautiful and complex writing in the game’s history.
If you check out the Steam Page, Larian Studios has described the epilogue as a “new playable chapter [that] takes place six months after the events of Baldur’s Gate 3’s story.” Gamers who want to experience this new epilogue can do so by loading up the game just prior to the final fight.
“Your epilogue is defined by you,” Larian wrote. “This is the culmination of every choice and consequence that you’ve made since the very start of your adventure, a gigantic tree of permutations that leads to an opportunity to reflect on that journey before you say goodbye. For the writers of Larian, this ‘final goodbye’ has resulted in some of the most complex writing in the game thus far, as it takes advantage of Baldur’s Gate 3’s reactivity across the entire adventure.”
Along with improvements and the new epilogue, Larian Studios have also added in the much awaited Honor Mode and Custom Mode, which will seek to offer a new way to experience the game. Honor Mode is the game’s toughest game mode yet, with everything in and out of the battle being taken up a notch. However, to incentivise this mode, the developers have announced that if you can beat the Honor Mode without dying once, you will receive a golden D20 to use in-game.
Overall, Patch 5 has truly brought in some much needed improvements and additions that make Baldur’s Gate 3 much more enjoyable.
