Aston Martin team boss, Mike Krack, has responded to the team’s lackluster performance in Spain by confirming that upgrades are on their way for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. Following their failure to secure a podium finish at their home race in Barcelona, driver Fernando Alonso remained optimistic, asserting that such a result would not be repeated and that Spain marked Aston Martin’s “last race without podiums.”
However, Mercedes’ recent unveiling of their B-spec W14 has raised the stakes, presenting formidable competition for the final spot on the podium. In Spain, it was Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell who capitalized on an off-weekend for Sergio Perez, securing second and third place respectively behind race winner Max Verstappen.
Alonso, fueled by his desire to not only avoid one-off successes but also challenge Verstappen for race wins, expressed his eagerness for imminent improvements. He confidently stated, “I think that in two weeks we will see a completely different picture and, hopefully, we will fight with the Red Bulls soon. In Canada, we will bring more stuff, in Silverstone too… It will depend on who brings the improvements.” Bolstering his statement, Alonso added, “I think it’s a race, and in Canada, we crush them.”
In response to Alonso’s aspirations, team boss Mike Krack affirmed their commitment to meeting the driver’s expectations. He acknowledged Alonso’s push for better performance, stating, “He is right to ask us and push us for that. There will be something coming in Canada. It will be a step.”
With the Canadian Grand Prix just around the corner, all eyes will be on Aston Martin to see if they can deliver on their promises. The team’s determination to provide Alonso with the tools necessary for a podium finish reflects their relentless pursuit of success. As fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming race, they will be looking to see whether Aston Martin can make good on their pledge and deliver a stronger performance against the fierce competition from Mercedes and Red Bull.
As the Formula 1 circus heads to Montreal, Canada, the stage is set for a thrilling showdown where Aston Martin will seek to demonstrate their unwavering resolve and determination to contend for race victories.
