Apple introduces the revolutionary Mac Studio and Studio Display

People who want to build the studio of their dreams can now get everything they need in one place with the Mac Studio and Studio Display. Mac Studio is a new way to do things with your computer. It’s powered by M1 Max and the new M1 Ultra, the world’s most powerful chip for a personal computer. It is the first computer that can deliver an unprecedented level of performance, a wide range of connectivity, and completely new features in a design that is so small that you can reach it with your arm. With Mac Studio, users can do things that aren’t possible on any other computer, like make huge 3D environments and play back 18 streams of ProRes video at the same time. Studio Display, which goes great with Mac Studio, also looks great with any Mac. It has a huge 27-inch 5K Retina display, a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera with Center Stage, and a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system with spatial audio that lets you hear everything around you. Together, Mac Studio and Studio Display make any workspace a powerful tool for making things.

Mac Studio

Mac Studio is even more powerful for people who want to push the boundaries of their creativity. It has new performance, a wide range of connectivity for peripherals, and a modular system that lets you build the perfect setup.

Revolutionary Desktop Design Enabled by Apple Silicon

Mac Studio completely rethinks what a high-performance desktop should look like with the power and efficiency of Apple chips. Every part of Mac Studio was made to help the M1 Max and M1 Ultra run at their best. This means that Mac Studio can be used on a desk and still have a lot of power and capability.
With a 7.7-inch square footprint and a height of only 3.7 inches, Mac Studio takes up very little space and fits under most displays. Mac Studio also has a unique thermal design that allows for a lot of speed. Dual blowers, precise airflow channels, and over 4,000 holes on the back and bottom help air flow through and cool high-performance chips in the inside of the case. And because Apple’s chips are so efficient, Mac Studio stays very quiet even when it’s running a lot of work.

Game-Changing Performance with M1 Max and M1 Ultra

Mac Studio is powered by either the M1 Max or the M1 Ultra. It has more unified memory than any other Mac, and it can do things that no other desktop can do. With M1 Max, users can take their creative workflows to new heights. For those who need even more computing power, M1 Ultra is the next big step for Apple silicon, giving Mac Studio breathtaking performance. M1 Ultra is based on M1 Max and features the new UltraFusion architecture, which connects the dies of two M1 Max chips together. This creates a system on a chip (SoC) that has never been seen before and has 114 billion transistors, the most ever in a personal computer chip.

Mac Studio Powered by M1 Max Enables:

  • Up to 2.5x faster CPU performance than the fastest 27-inch iMac with 10-core processor.
  • Up to 50 percent faster CPU performance than Mac Pro with a 16-core Xeon processor.
  • Up to 3.4x faster graphics performance than the 27-inch iMac, and over 3x faster than Mac Pro with its most popular graphics card.
  • Up to 7.5x faster than the 27-inch iMac, and up to 3.7x faster than 16-core Mac Pro when transcoding video.

Mac Studio Powered by M1 Ultra Enables:

  • Up to 3.8x faster CPU performance than the fastest 27-inch iMac with 10-core processor.
  • Up to 90 percent faster CPU performance than Mac Pro with 16-core Xeon processor.
  • Up to 60 percent faster CPU performance than 28-core Mac Pro.
  • Up to 4.5x faster graphics performance than the 27-inch iMac, and up to 80 percent faster than the fastest Mac graphics card available today.
  • Up to 12x faster than the 27-inch iMac, and up to 5.6x faster than 28-core Mac Pro when transcoding video.

No other computer in the world can play back 18 streams of 8K ProRes 422 video, which Mac Studio with M1 Ultra can do. If you have an M1 Max, you can get up to 64GB of combined graphics memory, and you can get up to 128GB of combined graphics memory on an M1 Ultra. It’s a big deal because the most powerful workstation graphics card today only has 48GB of memory. Having this huge amount of memory is a game changer for professional work. It also has up to 7.4GB/s of performance and can hold up to 8TB, so users can work on huge projects with speed and performance.

Connectivity within Easy Reach

The small size of Mac Studio makes it easy to get to a lot of important connections. It has four Thunderbolt 4 ports that can be used to connect high-performance devices, a 10Gb Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and a pro audio jack that can be used to connect high-impedance headphones or external amplifiers to the back. A lot of other things are built in as well, like Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Mac Studio also has ports on the front so that users can easily connect and disconnect things like portable storage. On the M1 Max, there are two USB-C ports. On the M1 Ultra, there are two ports, one for 10Gb/s USB 3 and the other for 40Gb/s Thunderbolt 4, which is faster. Front of the phone has an SD card slot, which makes it easy to put in photos and videos. And Mac Studio has a lot of display support, with up to four Pro Display XDRs and a 4K TV that can drive nearly 90 million pixels.

Studio Display

The new all-new Studio Display looks great with Mac Studio and also looks great with any Mac. In a class of its own, it has a beautiful 27-inch 5K Retina screen, as well as a great camera and audio. This gives Mac users the integrated experience they love.

Slim Aluminium Design

Studio Display has an all-screen design with very small borders and a sleek, all-aluminum case that holds a lot of advanced features in a small space. It has a built-in stand that lets the user tilt the screen up to 30 degrees. A tilt and height adjustable stand is also available from Studio Display to meet the needs of different types of workspaces. This stand has a counterbalance arm that makes the display feel light as it is moved. An adapter for VESA mounts is also available, and it can be used in both landscape and portrait orientations for even more options.

Immersive 27-inch 5K Retina Display

The Studio Display has a 27-inch screen with a resolution of 5K Retina. It has over 14.7 million pixels. It has 600 nits of brightness, P3 wide colour, and support for more than one billion colours. This makes images come to life in a way that is truly spectacular. True Tone technology automatically changes the colour temperature of the screen when the environment changes, giving you a more realistic viewing experience. An anti-reflective coating that is the best in the business makes the screen less reflective, which makes it more comfortable and easier to read. For places where there are a lot of bright lights, like sunlight, Studio Display has a new nano-textured glass option. Nano-textured glass, which was first used on Pro Display XDR, scatters light even more to reduce glare while still delivering high-quality images.

Sensational Camera and Audio System

Studio Display has a chip called the A13 Bionic. It has a high-tech camera and audio system that make for great experiences. The best video conferencing screen has a 12MP Ultra Wide camera with Center Stage, which automatically keeps people in the middle of the frame as they move around. This makes video calls even more interesting.

Studio Display also comes with a three-microphone array with a low noise level for clear calls and voice recordings. It also has a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system, which is the best Mac has ever had. This makes for an amazing listening experience. In this case, four force-cancelling woofers reduce distortion and make bold, articulate bass, while two high-performance tweeters make accurate midrange and crisp highs. The speakers also have Dolby Atmos, which makes it possible to listen to music and watch videos in a way that feels like you’re in a movie theatre. All together, Studio Display has the best camera and sound ever in a desktop display.

Seamless Connectivity

The Studio Display has three USB-C ports that can connect high-speed peripherals, storage, and networking right into the screen. These ports can reach speeds of up to 10Gb/s. Users can connect their Mac to their Studio Display and any other devices with a single cable thanks to a Thunderbolt port on their machine. Cable: The same cable can also deliver 96W of power to a Mac laptop, so Studio Display can even charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro quickly. And up to three Studio Displays can be connected to a MacBook Pro, making a powerful edit bay or animation workspace that can do a lot of work.

To match the look of the Studio Display, there is a new silver-and-black colour option for the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, the Magic Trackpad, and the Magic Mouse that customers can buy on their own.

Creative professionals will be able to build the studio of their dreams with Mac Studio and Studio Display. They will also be able to take their work to new levels.

  • Musicians and producers can work on the most complex compositions with hundreds of tracks, plug-ins, and virtual instruments, all played in real time.
