Apple Home receives support for Robot Vacuums

Ever dreamed of saying, “Hey Siri, tell the vacuum to clean the kitchen and the living room”? Well, that dream is finally turning into reality—at least if you own a compatible robot vacuum.

With the rollout of iOS 18.4—alongside iPadOS 18.4, macOS Sequoia 15.4, tvOS 18.4, and HomePod software—Apple Home now supports Matter-compatible robot vacuums from Roborock, iRobot, and Ecovacs. It’s about time, right? This long-overdue update means that if you have a supported model, you can add your vacuum to Apple Home, control it effortlessly, and even integrate it into your existing automations.

Robot Vacuum

Imagine this: You walk out the door on a Wednesday morning, and the moment you leave, your vacuum kicks into gear, ensuring spotless floors by the time you return. That’s not just convenience—it’s the smart home dream coming to life. And there’s more. With Siri on any Apple device, you can now command your robot vacuum to clean specific rooms or simply check its status with a quick voice prompt.

But before you start barking orders at Siri, you might need a firmware update. Roborock has confirmed that several models—including the S8 MaxV Ultra, Saros Z70, Saros 10, Saros 10R, Qrevo Curv, Qrevo Edge, and Qrevo Master—will receive updates in early April 2025 to enable Apple Home integration. Ecovacs and iRobot models will likely require updates too, but details are still trickling in.

This update is a big step forward for Apple’s smart home ecosystem, making good on its promise to expand Matter support. But let’s be honest—what we’re all really waiting for is Apple Intelligence, the AI-powered upgrade to Siri. That’s set to arrive sometime “in the coming year,” and it could change the game entirely. Maybe—just maybe—it’ll even pave the way for the long-rumored HomePod with a screen. Until then, at least our robot vacuums are finally getting with the program.
