Google has just released the first quarterly platform release beta for Android 13, and developers have already discovered code clues to two forthcoming devices: the rumored Pixel foldable and a new “Pro” tablet.
Developer Kuba Wojciechowski reveals screencaps of code that allude to the unfolded and folded states of a gadget dubbed “Felix” in a Twitter discussion. It also cites the device’s cameras, which might contain a 64-megapixel (MP) Sony IMX787 main sensor and a 10.8MP Samsung S5K3J1 telephoto lens on the back. On the inside, the gadget might include an 8MP Sony IMX355 sensor (the same as the Pixel 6A) and another Samsung S5K3J1 around the front.
The dual back camera arrangement of the foldable supports allegations that it can fold horizontally like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. Last year, it seemed that Google was also working on a clamshell-style handset, but animations in Android 12L and a symbol in Google’s camera app indicate a phone that folds like a book.
The camera HAL, however, seems to indicate something completely different. “Felix”, F10, includes multiple references to folded and unfolded states, as well as outer and inner cameras. pic.twitter.com/YrwJ482hdz

Wojciechowski discovered references to a “Pro” tablet named “t6pro” or “tangorpro” in addition to facts regarding Google’s future foldable. At I/O in May, Google stated that it is working on an Android-powered tablet, and developers have subsequently deduced that “t6” and “tangor” allude to the gadget. However, the addition of the “pro” appellation to these codenames might signal that Google is also working on a higher-end version of the tablet. The code points out, doesn’t disclose much more save the fact that the two smartphones will have different back cameras.
These results come a little over a month before Google’s Pixel launch event on October 6th, when the Pixel 7, Pixel Watch, and new Nest gadgets will be unveiled. However, we don’t expect to see the reported tablet or foldable during the presentation – the Pixel tablet isn’t expected to be released until 2023, while reports claim that the Pixel foldable will be released next year.
