Adobe is unveiling the 2024 edition of its lightweight Photoshop Elements application, featuring an array of AI-driven enhancements that aim to empower users with creative and editing capabilities.
One of the standout features in this update is the all-new Artistic Effect tool, which allows users to apply filters to their photographs, transforming them into masterpieces reminiscent of renowned art styles and famous artists like Vincent Van Gogh. Users have the flexibility to adjust the intensity of these filters using a slider or preserve the original image’s colors if desired. Furthermore, the changes can be localized to specific areas of the photograph, offering precise control over the artistic effect.
Quick Actions, which streamline various editing tasks, are now conveniently grouped in a single panel for ease of use. Users can effortlessly remove artifacts from JPEG images or highlight an entire background with a single click, simplifying the editing process.
In addition to the AI-powered features, Adobe has expanded the repertoire of editing tools in Photoshop Elements. The introduction of Photo Reels enables users to create captivating slideshows by incorporating a suite of editing tools for real-time adjustments, graphics insertion, and duration control for each image. The Color Match feature facilitates the seamless transfer of color and tone between images, giving users the choice of utilizing built-in presets or custom adjustments.
Guided Edits have been enhanced to allow users to replace entire backgrounds while preserving the main subject intact in an image. Moreover, Adobe has revamped the interface of Photoshop Elements, introducing new fonts, icons, buttons, and color schemes. Users can now choose between light and dark mode to tailor their experience.
Simultaneously, Adobe is releasing the 2024 version of Premiere Elements, which includes a notable AI-driven feature known as Automatic Highlight Reels. This feature scans uploaded videos to identify high-quality clips, close-up shots, and sequences with people in motion, automatically compiling them into a highlight reel.
While many of Premiere Elements’ changes are not AI-based, it introduces features like color transfer, allowing users to capture the color from one video and fine-tune saturation and hue in another. Additionally, new audio effects, such as the Vocal Enhancer, have been incorporated to enhance sound quality.
These features and enhancements are accessible on desktop versions of Photoshop and Premiere Elements, while “web and mobile companion apps” have received beta features. Notably, Quick Actions are currently being tested for mobile devices, and users can experiment with adding overlays to images. The rollout date for the mobile update has not been announced as of yet.
