A production snag may have impacted the development of Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage may face production delay, according to recent rumors circulating among fans of Ubisoft’s stealth franchise. The highly anticipated game, which was announced during the September 2022 Ubisoft Forward event, promises to return to the series’ roots with a story that takes around 15 to 20 hours to complete, rather than the lengthy campaigns of recent entries. The game features the exploits of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Basim in 9th-century Baghdad, and leaked concept art hints at a possible investigation mode.

However, according to a recent tweet from Codex, an Assassin’s Creed fansite, the game has undergone production changes and may be arriving later than expected. This rumor, originating from French gaming magazine Jeux Video, suggests that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will now be the launch title for Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a platform that will serve as both a launcher for upcoming titles and as the home for the series’ modern-day storyline. This would mean that the previously announced Assassin’s Creed Red has been pushed back.

While some fans are disappointed by the potential delay, others are hoping that Ubisoft is using the extra time to increase the scope of the game. However, there are concerns that the delay could be the result of executive meddling rather than a desire to ensure the game is polished. Many gamers have become increasingly aware of the issue of crunch time in the game development industry and are calling for developers to be given a comfortable work-life balance.

Whether or not the rumors of Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s delay are true remains to be seen, but fans are hopeful that the game will live up to the series’ legacy whenever it does release.
