Whether you are a casual player who jumps on for a few rounds of Team Deathmatch or a die-hard grinder pushing for those Mastery Camos, the arrival of Black ops 7 season 2 is a significant moment for the community. This update does not just add a few bits of filler; it introduces seven distinct weapons that fundamentally change how you can approach a gunfight. From high-tech assault rifles to a melee tool that looks like it belongs in a horror movie, there is a lot to unpack.
The highlight for many is undoubtedly the H311-SAW, a handheld buzzsaw that adds a layer of visceral, close-quarters intensity we have not seen in a while.
Shredding the competition with the H311-SAW
The H311-SAW is easily the most talked-about addition in Black ops 7 season 2. It is classified as a melee weapon, but calling it a “knife” would be a massive understatement. This is a motorized, handheld buzzsaw designed for players who love to get right in the face of the enemy.
What makes it stand out compared to the standard combat knife is its range and damage profile. While it has a slightly slower attack speed than your basic blade, the reach is surprisingly generous. In the chaos of a small map like Nuketown or the new Torment map, having a weapon that can cleave through multiple enemies in quick succession is a game changer. It is loud, it is messy, and it provides a level of satisfaction that a standard silenced pistol just cannot match.
New primary weapons for every playstyle
If you prefer keeping your distance, the Black ops 7 season 2 update has plenty to offer in the primary weapon slots. At launch, players can get their hands on the REV-46 SMG and the EGRT-17 assault rifle.
The REV-46 is a dream for movement-heavy players. It boasts an incredibly fast fire rate, arguably the quickest in the current meta. What is really interesting here is the adjustable stock. You can toggle between a folded and unfolded position, which alters your handling and recoil on the fly. It is perfect for those moments when you transition from a tight hallway into a more open courtyard.
Then there is the EGRT-17. This assault rifle uses superheated rounds that actually ricochet off solid surfaces. This adds a tactical layer to the gunplay that feels fresh. If someone is camping behind a head-glitch or tucked into a corner, you can literally bounce shots off the back wall to flush them out. It takes some practice to master the angles, but once you do, it is a formidable tool in any loadout.
Explosive support and mid-season arrivals
For those who like to cause a bit of chaos, the GDL Havoc special grenade launcher is a standout. This is a pump-action launcher that fires sticky grenades. Unlike your standard frag, these stick to surfaces and can be remotely detonated. It is an area-denial masterclass. You can trap a doorway in Search and Destroy or clear out a crowded Hardpoint with a well-timed click. Just keep in mind that it does not support aiming down sights, so you will need to get comfortable with hip-firing and manual timing.
As the season progresses, we are also expecting the SG-12 semi-auto shotgun, the Voyak KT-3 assault rifle, and the Swordfish A1 marksman rifle. The SG-12 is particularly interesting because it is designed for mid-range consistency, which is a rare trait for a shotgun in this series. It bridges the gap between a room-clearer and a reliable primary weapon.
Performance and customization
Every single one of these new additions comes with its own set of compatible attachments. This means that even though the base versions of the weapons are strong, the real power comes from the Gunsmith. You can tailor the EGRT-17 to maximize its ricochet potential or strip down the REV-46 for maximum “sprint-to-fire” speed.
The developers have also spent time tuning the existing pool of weapons to ensure these new arrivals have a place in the sandbox without making everything else obsolete. It is a delicate balance, but the initial feel of the season suggests a much more diverse meta where different classes can actually compete on the same playing field.
Maps and modes to test your gear
You cannot have new toys without a sandbox to play in. Black ops 7 season 2 introduces maps like Torment, which is a psychological, twisted version of Mason’s memories, and Sake, a medium-sized map set in a Japanese factory. These locations provide the perfect testing ground for the new weapons. The tight corridors of the Sake factory are a haven for the H311-SAW, while the longer sightlines in Nexus allow the upcoming Swordfish A1 to shine.
We also see the return of the fan-favorite map Slums from Black Ops 2. It is a classic three-lane design that remains one of the best maps for testing SMG and assault rifle builds. Whether you are playing the new Safeguard mode or sticking to the classic Moshpit, there is plenty of variety to keep the gameplay from feeling stagnant.
