Kia is set to enhance the 2024 EV6 lineup with a new trim level that strikes a perfect balance between range and affordability. Based on information from the latest order guide, which was originally spotted by Cars Direct, the 2024 Kia EV6 Light Long Range will be available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. This new trim reduces the price of the Kia EV6, equipped with the larger 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery, by up to $2,750, according to an official Kia America spokesperson as reported by InsideEVs.
The 2024 Kia EV6 Light Long Range RWD variant is positioned between the existing EV6 Light and Wind trims, offering customers an appealing combination of extended range and cost savings. This new trim starts with an attractive MSRP of $45,950, excluding shipping costs. Notably, it is $2,750 less expensive than the EV6 Wind, which comes equipped with the same larger battery pack and has a starting price of $48,700.
Compared to the standard range EV6 Light, priced from $42,600 with the smaller 58-kWh battery pack, the 2024 Kia EV6 Light Long Range RWD carries a price premium of $3,350.
While Kia has not officially confirmed the exact range for the new trim, it is anticipated to offer similar range to the EV6 Wind RWD configuration, which boasts an EPA-estimated range of 310 miles.
Additionally, Kia is introducing the EV6 Light e-AWD trim, a new all-wheel-drive variant, with a starting MSRP of $49,850, excluding destination charges. This AWD model is $3,900 more expensive than its rear-wheel-drive counterpart, aligning with the typical price increase for AWD across various EV6 trim levels.
The introduction of the 2024 Kia EV6 Light Long Range trim is expected to be well-received by potential EV buyers seeking an ideal combination of extended range and affordability. Notably, the Light Long Range RWD variant also becomes the most affordable dual-motor EV6 option, undercutting the price of the EV6 Wind e-AWD by $2,750.
Furthermore, this new trim provides a competitive edge by offering more range for less money compared to similar electric vehicles. In particular, it positions Kia to be $40 more affordable than the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, which has a starting price of $45,990. Additionally, it is just $250 more expensive than a similarly configured 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE, starting at $45,700.
The 2024 Kia EV6 Light Long Range trim not only offers enhanced affordability but also an extended range, making it an attractive option for EV enthusiasts and prospective buyers seeking a well-balanced combination of features and cost-effectiveness.
