You can now lease Rivian’s Electric Truck in 14 US States

Electric vehicle maker Rivian has announced that they have started a leasing program in 14 States in the United States of America. The new feature was added to their website where we noticed that interested people can lease the range of R1T electric pickup truck at an attractive price of around $770/month (region-specific). One more factor that could entice people to lease R1T pickup trucks is that leasing vehicles is considered completely different to owning a car in the United States. This means that lessees qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles.

The leasing program will be started in the following states – Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.

When asked about the program, a spokesperson from Rivian said – “We chose these launch states based on many factors including where our customers are located and where leasing is most popular”.

Now, the Rivian RIT pickup trucks start at a price of around $73,000, but the models that are available for the leasing programs are the top end models that retail at around $90,000. This means that while leasing a car with the tax credits may make the process a bit more manageable, but the overall expense will still be considerable.

Earlier this month, Rivian had announced that they will now be manufacturing 2000 more vehicles, taking the overall inventory to 54,000 units but the end of the year. The company has been quite public about their development, more so now that tesla is all set to hand over the first batch of Cybertrucks to customers. It will be a tasty battle between the two EV makers and we can’t wait to see who emerges the winner.
