Players of Halo Infinite have had a difficult year. While the game had a promising start towards the end of 2021, users have been dissatisfied with a general lack of content and significant upgrades. While developer 343 Studios is hard at work on fresh content to keep players interested, Xbox is acutely aware of user annoyances. Xbox Game Studios chief Matt Booty addressed the game’s recent issues in a new interview with the Friends Per the Second podcast, as well as how the business is striving to turn things around.
“Shipping the game is just the beginning, as is evident with a game like Halo Infinite these days. There has to be a strategy for content sustainability, and a plan for frequent ongoing interaction, and we simply fell short of both. So we’ve really retrenched, there have been some changes in how the team is structured, there have been some changes in leadership, and we’ve simply needed to get refocused on that continuous content strategy and making sure that we’re providing a regular update of material for the gamers “Booty said.
While the game is not in a position that Xbox is pleased with, some significant upgrades are on the way. The winter update for Halo Infinite will be released on November 8th, and it will include a significant amount of new content as well as various quality-of-life enhancements. New maps, a beta for the long-awaited Forge mode, and tweaks to Battle Pass advancement are all on the way. It remains to be seen if 343 Industries can genuinely continue these sorts of content upgrades, but it seems to be a promising indication for the future!
