Xbox Game Pass Teases Inclusion of Acclaimed Fighting Game, Ramping Up Excitement Amongst Fans

One of the finest fighting game series, Soulcalibur, may be coming to the Xbox Game Pass programme in the future, according to an insider. Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass has been a popular and well-received programme, with consistently strong titles introduced at regular intervals. Although games do ultimately exit the service after a set length of time, there have also been critically recognised blockbusters. This includes AAA titles from Bandai Namco, Sega, Capcom, and others being included and reaching a larger audience.

Soulcalibur is one of Bandai Namco’s main fighting game brands, with the original Soulcalibur game making an excellent Sega Dreamcast debut. From then, the series would be transferred to other major systems, with Xbox’s first introduction to the fighting game franchise being Soulcalibur 2 on the original Xbox, including special exclusive guest character Spawn. Since Soulcalibur 4, the series has made an appearance on the Xbox lineup for its mainline entries, even receiving an HD version of the first game on the Xbox 360. According to the most recent speculations concerning Soulcalibur, it will eventually be included to the Xbox Game Pass.

Shpeshal Nick, an insider, revealed this on The Xbox Era podcast. While discussing the Soulcalibur series, he notes that “everyone enjoys a decent remaster.” He claims that his source was dubious about what it was, thus they didn’t know whether it was a remaster of the original Soulcalibur or a compilation of Soulcalibur games. He feels that this collection might result in a Game Pass contract.

According to Nick, his source was hazy on whether it was presently in development or whether Bandai Namco was simply considering bringing the property to Xbox Game Pass. He reiterates that the only information he gleaned from the message was that it was for Soulcalibur. It should be noted that this is only a rumour, with many statements from insiders like Nick being wrong, as Nick himself admits, so fans should take this information with a grain of salt until further official information is released.

Bandai Namco’s emphasis seems to be Tekken 8 and Dragon Ball-related titles in terms of confirmed fighting game releases. Tekken 8 will be released on several platforms, with the rivalry between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima reaching its conclusion. Bandai Namco also introduced a brand-new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game, with the series hoping to make a return following its previous entry over a decade ago. Fans will have to wait and see whether the Soulcalibur Xbox Game Pass rumour is true.
