Microsoft has delivered on its promise to revitalize its augmented reality (AR) headset, Hololens, by introducing a variant of Windows 11 specifically designed for the device. This move comes shortly after Apple’s announcement of its own AR headset, the Vision Pro. Microsoft’s Windows Holographic version 23H1, based on Windows 11, is now generally available, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the AR platform.
The upgrade addresses longstanding concerns raised by customers about the Hololens, including issues with the operating system’s performance and functionality, as well as the headset’s ergonomics and design. While a new device is not yet on the horizon, the Windows 11 upgrade provides some reassurance that Microsoft remains dedicated to advancing AR technology.
