Williams Racing and Gulf Oil International have presented a special livery for the 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix titled “Driven by Words.” The design places 493 messages from supporters across the world across the body of the FW47, turning the car into a canvas that reflects the voices that have followed the team through its resurgence.
Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will run the one-off scheme at Interlagos. The car features Gulf’s familiar light blue and orange colours, combined with hundreds of words submitted by fans. With Williams on course for its strongest season since 2016 and holding fifth in the constructors’ standings, the team sees this weekend as a key round in securing that position.
The campaign began in July and collected more than 140,000 votes. “Legacy” received the highest total with more than 7,700 votes, followed by “Passion” with more than 5,800 and “Teamwork” with more than 4,100. These themes appear across the livery in a pattern designed to blend with the standard Gulf palette.
Team principal James Vowles said the design reflects Williams’ intention to keep supporters at the centre of its identity.
“As an iconic F1 team with a history of championship-winning racing and aspirations for another title, we understand how much we mean to our fans around the world, and this livery is a tangible expression of that sentiment.”
Mike Jones, CEO of Gulf Oil International, highlighted the shared purpose behind the project.
“Through our partnership with Williams, we continue to celebrate what makes racing truly meaningful: the fans. This livery is the result of their passion and commitment to the Gulf brand.”
“Driven by Words” continues the “Fans First” programme that Williams and Gulf have developed over the past few seasons. Recent steps include the global fan vote that produced the “Bolder than Bold” livery in 2023 and Alex Albon’s F1 demonstration run at the Anhembi Sambodromo in 2024. The Sao Paulo Grand Prix gives the partnership another opportunity to place supporters at the front of the team’s public identity.
